Bill and Mahala were numbered among the early settlers, who learned how to pioneer the hard way.

They reared their family in this county with long hard hours of labor, and in spite of their hardships made life around them worthwhile. They enjoyed the friendship and hospitality offered them and were numbered among those who were always termed the life of the party wherever they were.

Bill Cale was quite a jigger and enjoyed entertaining friends in this manner. Even after his 75th birthday Mr. Cale entertained a group of neighbors and relatives with his jigging. In the passing of Mr. Cale, Wibaux County has lost another highly respected, honest, faithful soldier and resident and his family have lost a grand old Dad…
